![]() ![]() The car must be a mid-late '62 as I see the square 4-pin plug for the regulator wiring but with nothing plugged into it. Master cylinder and brake booster are replacements that are nowhere near the OEM units that were installed with a screw-on cylinder cap and the two-piece Kelsey-Hayes booster.ģ. Washer and pump are aftermarket and on the opposite side of the car from the OEM installation.Ģ. The car's really been kludged by a previous owner. My Thunderbird website: From the photos I can tell the following:ġ. I also notice an interesting "FoMoCo" stamp just above the washer bag. If it were me, I would install an original system and dump this aftermarket setup - I'd start by trying to find the original power wire which was included in all the factory harnesses. I think it's possible that your car did not have a washer pump from the factory and someone installed an aftermarket set-up - is the pump located under or in the bag? ![]() It looks like a former owner has really messed with your Bird's wiring and I don't recognize the relay in your photo - but I do know it's not a power window relay. The power wire is the heavy fabric covered wire that exits the main harness to the left of the starter solenoid and then loops under the solenoid, through a plastic wiring strap, and then attaches directly to the pump. Here is a picture of a correct factory installation: The motor is then grounded to the body through one of the mounting screws. On a 63, and I think a 62 is similar if not the same, the power for the motor comes from a black wire in the main wiring harness that goes directly from the dash switch to the pump motor. For some reason, the wiring for the washer pump is not included in either the 62 or 63 Osborn Electrical Assembly Manuals, but it's really pretty simple. ![]()
